Since making its Quality First pledge in 2002, the
Alliance for Quality
Nursing Home Care has aggressively conducted independent, outside
assessments of the progress being made to improve quality of care. On
March 23, 2006, more than 120 members of the skilled nursing community
came together at the Positive Momentum: Quality First Conference to discuss
what has been accomplished, and what challenges lie ahead.
Attendees heard from an expert panel of leaders from
government,
academia, and industry who discussed the impact of quality measurement
on patient care outcomes. Speakers addressed metrics used to gauge clinical
quality and patient satisfaction; trends in and opportunities for quality
improvement; and pay-for-performance systems and their impact on quality
of care.
- Using data to bolster quality improvement efforts at
the facility level
- Developing customer satisfaction surveys at a national
level to improve overall quality care for residents
- Creating a collaborative framework with state and federal
partners to improve resident care
- Rewarding providers for care delivery excellence
