Burke Health and Rehabilitation Center is a 120 bed skilled nursing facility (SNF) providing post-acute transitional care and long-term care to over 900 patients annually from the Fairfax, Prince William, Arlington and Loudon counties of Virginia. Burke Health and Rehabilitation Center is one of the first skilled nursing centers in the Northern Virginia area trained to effectively care for and provide rehabilitative services to post-acute patients who have received a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) to treat their cardiovascular disease. An LVAD is an implantable mechanical pump that helps transfer blood from the lower left chamber of the heart to the rest of the body. After about a 10-day stay in the hospital setting, these LVAD patients will receive up to three hours a day of rehabilitative care at Burke Health and Rehabilitation Center for approximately two to three weeks.
